AEU Handbook 2013

Government/DoE policy, processes and legislation changes

There have been changes to processes enabling Department of Education fixed-term teachers to convert to permanent status.

Kindergarten Teacher Assistants (TA) time

Kindergarten TA time is allocated by formula and is included in the school’s resource package.

TAs should work their hours with the Kindergarten teacher while sessions are in progress.

Allocation is based on the following formula which uses full-time equivalent enrolments (FTE).

1 FTE = 2 Kindergarten students.

For first 5 FTE students

2.0 hours per FTE

1.0 hours per FTE

3.0 hours per FTE

0.5 hours per FTE

10FTE = 18.75

(20 children)

For 11th to 20th FTE student

1.15 hours per FTE

For 21st student & above

0.85 hours per FTE
